Light day...

Me and scrub tech Babu-he gave me the nickname "Balah"
Today was a rather light day and I actually finished up early in the OR.  It seems like there's an ebb and flow to the surgical cases-just as we're beginning to offload the service, there are a few people hanging out in the ER who need surgery and are waiting for their families to bring the money.  I'm thinking Friday may be another heavy day-we'll see..
Oh, my med student showed up today-says she had a cold on Friday and couldn't make it in, but she's back in action now..

Things in the Trauma ER seemed relatively stable this afternoon and I was able to take care of a few things and even get in an hour nap!  Just as I was headed back to the dorm I got a call from another volunteer saying that one of the administrators had an "emergency case" for me (I'm thinking someone was coming in that needed to go to surgery or something); When I ran over to the office, it was just a consult to see someone who had sprained their ankle yesterday...told you..

We have 3 new volunteers who arrived yesterday from the states specializing in OB/Gyn.  They're really going to be needed-the perinatal mortality rate here is unbelieveable.  I hope they find their time here as fulfilling as I have so far; they're only here for 2 weeks.  We all took a nice walk down to another beach today close by called Golden Beach.  It was ok-definitely not as nice as Thinker's, but it was cool to see the sunset.  Here the sun doesn't set on the horizon-it actually sets way in the sky amongst the clouds.  It's very interesting to see.

Light day, light blog.  Don't want to bore you with all the super long entries-I know my last few have been a bit lengthy so I'll spare you this evening.  Nite.
